Red Rose Corporate Services achieves 30% resource savings in Lancashire!

Ryhurst Ltd and Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust’s (LCFT) joint venture partnership, Red Rose Corporate Services (RRCS) has achieved 30% resource savings at LCFT’s corporate headquarters, Sceptre Point inPreston.

Refurbishment of the offices at Sceptre Point focused on improving the working environment of LCFT staff while at the same time efficiently utilising the space within the building and reducing overhead costs.

Prior to the refurbishment project, utilisation equated to £567,000, which when divided by the existing192 anchor working stations, gives a cost of £2,958 per person.

After the refurbishment project, utilisation equates to £567,000, when divided by 268 agile working stations (hot desks) gives a cost of £2,115 per person. This provides overhead savings of 30% or £843 per person.

Agile workers will have access to desk space and IT equipment, though the same equipment may be used by other employees. Workers will be able to book workstations in advance by using the Office Booking System via the internet. Existing anchor workers will be allocated a permanent desk for which they will not be required to book.

Anchor working = employee is fixed at one location with own desk

Agile working = flexible working, employees not fixed to one location (this could include working at any LCFT site, partner organisation or from home.

What is Space Utilisation? = Space utilisation is the frequency of time an area is used compared with its availability and occupancy. Utilisation rates can be assessed in terms of both actual use and predicted use.

Benefits of Space Utilisation = Effective utilisation of space creates a good match between space needs and space provision, and helps to improve the staff and patient experience.
